Hi, I'm Katie. I am the wife to Steve and the mother to six fantastic kids. I have been quilting for 22 years and have always wanted to quilt as a business. In 2015, I began a successful longarm quilting company called Quilt Mama. I made so many friends and I loved it so much, but eventually I realized I wasn't working on any of my own projects. In 2020, I sold my professional longarm machine and bought a smaller one for personal use. I still wanted to quilt as a business, I mean why not earn a little money doing something you love. I decided that I'd give quilt pattern writing and design a try! This way, I can make all the quilts I want, and not feel like I'm neglecting my clients. It's a big step that I'm very excited about! I decided to call my company Traditionally Modern Quilt Co. I know. It's a mouthful. But I really wanted to call my company by a name that really reflects my quilting style and my personality. Part of me dreams of homestead living and "simpler" times (you may see a post or two about my chickens). Part of me is so grateful for the technology and medical advances of our current era. But one of the things that both of these time periods have in common is quilting. Quilt making spans over a hundred years, tells stories and comforts loved ones.
